David Mountbatten, 3rd Marquess of Milford Haven

David Michael Mountbatten, 3rd Marquess of Milford Haven (May 12, 1919April 14, 1970) was the son of George Mountbatten, 2nd Marquess of Milford Haven and Nadezhda de Torby.

His paternal grandparents were Prince Louis of Battenberg and Princess Victoria of Hesse and the Rhine. His maternal grandparents were Grand Duke Michael Mikhailovich Romanov and Sophia von Merenberg de Torby. He is also a descendant of the Russian writer Pushkin as well as of Peter the Great's African protégé, Ibrahim Petrovich Gannibal.

David married, firstly, Romaine Dahlgren Pierce, daughter of Ulric Dahlgren Pierce and Margaret Knickerbocker Clark, on 4 February 1950 at Washington D.C., U.S.A. and they were divorced in 1954 at Mexico.

He married, secondly, Janet Mercedes Bryce, daughter of Major Francis Bryce and Gladys Jean Mosley, on 17 November 1960 at St. Andrew's Church, Frognal, London. They had two children:

  1. George Mountbatten, 4th Marquess of Milford Haven (b. 6 June 1961)
  2. Lord Ivar Mountbatten (b. 9 March 1963)

He died from a heart attack aged 50 on 14 April 1970 in London and is buried at Whippingham Church, Whippingham, Isle of Wight.
