Description
On the 22nd January 2005 the Grand Opening of the "Finale Section" was launched. After 5 years of study, research construction and painting by Michael and his daughter Rachael, the "Finale Section" was finally ready to go on display. The launch date conveniently coincided with Michael's birthday and over 100 guests attended the unveiling. The now complete Bayeux Tapestry Mosaic was displayed for the first time in all its glory.
The opening was a great success, culminating in the unveiling of the Finale Section to the Mosaic. Speeches were kept to a minimum due to the excessive heat of the day and after singing happy birthday and dressing up in the medieval armour lent from Dave Cole of Ashburton, the evening drew to a close with an aurora display that was captured on camera by good friend and photographer Geoff Cloak.
